Sports Massage - Recovery is key

Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and covers the other soft tissues).

The therapist uses combination of broad and specific techniques to loosen tissue and break adhesions formed by injury and prolonged muscle stiffness. These techniques can be sore at times and can last up to 48 hours especially if it your first time using this treatment.

Sports massage vs Traditional massage

A key difference here is the depth used by the therapist. After a careful assessment of potential contra-indications the therapist would progressively apply more depth to each phase of the massage up to the point of toleration.

Where depth can go wrong is the idea that more depth causes more relief. This is not the case with a range of side effects including bruising and severe pain for over 48 hrs.

Targeting the soft tissue depending on the physical activity you partake in. We take into careful consideration your activity level to provide bespoke massages.

Join us in a comfortable environment where you can relax and let us do what we can, to not only relieve pain but to also prevent it too.

Many people use Sports Massage to help recover from prolonged periods of exercise and muscles stiffness. We also use it to help reduce muscle tension and pain from long days at the desk and those persistent neck aches.

We recommend using Sports Massage to stop aches and pains appearing, especially those who are exercising and competing regularly.

What to bring

It helps your initial assessment if you can change down to your underwear, however, if it is more practical to wear a pair of shorts or leggings and a comfortable vest top, then that is fine too.
Gowns are available on request; please feel free to ask your therapist for one.

If you have any x-blood tests, x-rays or other information regarding your health please feel free to bring these with you as it may be useful to your therapist
